Hey, I'm thinking about a mild C-notch but I have read somewhere on here about moving the trailing arm crossmember 1" toward the front so the wheel will end up centered in its opening when lowered. I would lower aprx. 6" in the rear. What do ya'll think? Would the mild C notch our vendors sell allow me to move the rear up 1" without problems?

Most trucks need the rear moved back to re-center the axle in the wheel opening. What year truck & type of bed?

It's a 68 short bed.

SCOTI is correct.
Normally it needs to move rearward.

Do you have any pics of your truck?

The bolt in C notch won't work if you move the axle since its shaped to fit the frame rail directly over the stock axle location. The bolt in notch is deep enough to let the third member hit the bed floor at full drop; if youre just dropping it six inches you might be better off making you own notch from heavy wall tubing so you can position it to match your axle location.

I do not have pictures. It's in pieces at this time.
I'm cleaning up the frame now and was considering the C notch.

So I should consider moving the axle back an inch
and if I do will the "mild" C notches available be in the right place?

All the rear suspension kits we build are designed to center the wheel in the wheel well opening... and our notches are centered as well. Not all aftermarket notches are. There is some variations between wheel well opening center line on the fleetside vs step side beds.
