Old trucks, young blood

Howdy all!

I'm new to this forum, but not new to these old trucks. I have a 1957 Chevy 3100 pickup that I've had for over half of my life, but it has been in storage for the last 7 years, as I've been overseas since I joined the Navy in 2005.

I finally made it back to the mainland, and tried to get my '57 shipped to me from NE to VA, but there weren't any transport drivers willing to go 40 miles off of the interstate to get my truck, so it still sits in storage until I can find another way.

So in the meantime, I scoured the local Craigslist, and found a 1969 Suburban in decent shape for a good price. Seemed like a deal I couldn't refuse, so I went for it. Now it's on to some garage time and see what I can do to this thing. I'm thinking about an updated suspension/brakes, a cozy interior with A/C and decent stereo, and top it off with some LS power and an overdrive tranny. With that potential combo, I can just drive to NE and put the '57 on a trailer and haul it home myself.

Anyway, I look forward to sharing experience and learning a lot on this forum.

Take care.

Welcome from NC! You need to post pics or everyone in here will drive you crazy.

A couple of us have used http://www.transporttime.com to get old cars shipped. His name is Roy Podolin, and he is a broker. He can usually find someone capable of picking up about anything. Tell him Jeff Goddard referred ya. I've used him about 10 times, and referred him about 20. He oughta know me by now. In fact, I should be due a referral reward by now. Maybe a set of steak knives. haha.
