seat belt ?

My 86 c30 dually only has a hole . Is there a kit to swap in a set of 89 belts for the rear?

Re: seat belt ?

probably no kit avail. Scour Flea-bay and the like to find a set of used pulls that match the color of the front.

Re: seat belt ?

Please clarify, is it a crew cab truck, or you are wanting to put belts in the bed? Don't laugh, I've seen people do some strange stuff around here where I live. I saw a Chevy Cavalier with a 2x10 wood spoiler once.

Re: seat belt ?

I you don't get any answers by this evening I will check mine over when I get home and maybe I can offer my findings/advice. My best advice for now is to leave the 2x10's on the shelf at Lowe's.

Re: seat belt ?

No factory solution, most guys I've seen weld a nut to a plate and then weld a plate to the c pillar

Re: seat belt ?

Now I will have to cut something out to get welder in and a solid weld on brace. Should I just slice it n fold , Panel will cover ,

Has anyone did this on a square-body yet?

Re: seat belt ?

I'm interested in what you come up with BrooKlyn, I'm going to be doing the same thing but need a center shoulder belt as well. Haven't figured it all out yet though.

Re: seat belt ?

my only concern is liability issue. If something ever went wrong and i had a accident and it was cause of death in that seat belt that was modified would the state come and prosecute me. I no I can have my race car chassis guy to do the welding on it. Just been looking threw google has to offer laws ect on retro fitting seat belts and cant seem to find a legal answer. I can't see why I couldn't do it if I was making it safer then it was factory.

Still tossing it up but I did list the truck for sale while I debate http://lasvegas.craigslist.org/cto/2815903475.html

I would place the bolt and nut in the hole on the C-Pillar drill a hole top and bottom of the bolt and plug weld them.

This should not be a concern if you are going to have your chassis guy do this. He builds things that can roll several times and have the driver walk away unharmed. If done correctly the factory bolt holes will rip out long before your brace will.

Re: seat belt ?

As I think I mentioned it the other thread, I did it on mine. Flat plate (1/8th as i recall) with a nut welded on then welded to the c-pillar. Cut out was already in the pillar for some lights so I could sink the nut.

My 6 and 7 year old ride back there all the time, but I don't like them much so what do I care if it's not safe...

Oh yeah, and have a look at how he factory belts are mounted through the sheet metal on the front lap belts from the underside. Good frame of reference. Good luck with it!

man, that's just wrong.

It wouldn't be that hard to weld a nut on a plate in up there as mentioned. I think I'll try it on mine when I get that far into the project.
