Severe camber problem, no visible adjustments. Anyone able to advise?

is the camber in or out. im no alignment specialist or anything but if im not mistaken you have to shim the top a arms. unless your ball joints are worn out. it is a 2wd right?

4WD. Camber's out at the top, about 1/2 inch from plumb. Both tires severely worn on outer edge.

You need to replace the ball joints in the front axle.

They also make shims for the spindles that come in degree increments

Re: 83 3/4 ton, 2 lift kits, 315 big lugs.

The camber is not supposed to be out from factory. That old timer is wrong. I have never had to do it on any of my trucks, but as mentioned there are shims for between the spindle and knuckle to correct camber. Naturally, the first thing to do is be sure you have healthy bearings and ball joints. I have only ever heard of camber being off with the top tilted in and wearing the inside of the tire. I always figured those trucks had a tweaked axle from coming down hard on it. I can't imagine anything that would tweak an axle in the opposite way.
Is you truck lifted? Maybe the axle is rolled forward to compensate for drive shaft angle. When that is done it's also necessary to clock the "C"s (axle ends where ball joints are) back to vertical for proper steering geometry. This will cause too much toe-in and wear the outer tread.

Re: 83 3/4 ton, 2 lift kits, 315 big lugs.

my truck is lifted and im going to be replacing front springs to match my new rears I just put in to fix the damage from an accident. The new front springs do have shims on them but Im thinking about removing them. Id rather be able to steer and have a little vibration at highway speeds. I havent looked to see if there are shims on the springs under the truck now, I'll have a look tomorrow.

Re: 83 3/4 ton, 2 lift kits, 315 big lugs.

No, this was long before that. I was hit hard in the rear, broke the axle tube out of the pumpkin and the leaf spring on that side in 3 places. I built a new rear end for it this week and I replaced the old springs and 4"blocks in the rear with 6" springs. Next week I'll be doing the front springs to match. It had some ancient rancho lift springs and blocks so I figured it was a good excuse to upgrade.
