350 turbo swap question

OK so my 63 shortbed Stepside c10 has a 305 with three speed on column. My current trans is a bw t-16 three speed. I thinking about putting in a 350 turbo. As far as installing it wats the best way or easiest to remove the rivets in the stock trans cross member, also will a ccp tubular trans cross member be a direct bolt in to the frame without having to modify anything ? thanks

Re: 350 turbo swap question

I've used two techniques in removing factory frame rivets. One is to drill a small hole in the center, and follow up with a step drill until the center of the hole is nearly the size of the rivet. This flares out the center hole removing much of the rivet head. Then I use an air hammer and chisel to pop off the head.

The other method is to cut a cross in the top of the rivet, again basically to remove a large amount of material from the head. And again I pop off what’s left of the head with an air chisel. If the core of the rivet is stuck I switch bits and poke out the stem with a punch on the air hammer. If air tools aren’t available, regular chisels and punches work just fine, but they require more effort.

Can't help with the crossmember question as I have no experience with them.
