cowl induction hood questions
I need 3 inches of "true" clearance in a cowl hood. Can someone reccommend a hood that just not for show? 81-87 model. I've seen the back of some and it appears to just be a raised portion of the hood without actual clearance. Anyone running a Harwood?

You might want to try GlassTek. I know that they have a 4 inch hood. I know that they will custom make you one too...atleast they would in the past.

Harwood hoods are excellent and you can get them with a 4" cowl.

I personally don't like the fit/finish of Harwood hoods. In the past they needed ALOT of finishing work, and the underside was NOT finished. USBODY at one time made a 3" hood.
What do you have under there than needs that kind of clearance?

I'm trying to shoe-horn my new 9 liter in there. I have a set of Profiler heads and port matched high rise intake that I don't want to seperate. The edelbrock intake might fit but again I want to stay with this intake. I may end up with an aero-scoop like Ragin'rat. I'd post a pic but I can't seem to shrink it enough to post. I'll try again tonight.

It's a 548cu. 4.25 crank with 4.530 bore. I invested in the merlin III because it can safely go to 4.625 bore. I think this will keep me busy for years to come.

Harwood has gone through and fixed a lot of their hoods. I put one on a 92 Camaro, and it was pretty nice. The underside was finished nicely, and it was pretty straight. They also had it without the silly body line down the middle. The new Camaro hood was nice, but not sure about the truck hoods. Sorry.
