327 Engine rebuild pics

Rebuilt my 69 327 a couple months ago and thought I would post a few pics of the build. Got the idea for the build from "Classic Trucks" magazine, had a list of all of the parts. The article said it produced 345 hp and 375 ft-lb torque on the dyno.

Bored .040 over
Keith black pistons (inverted dome) 9:1 comp
RHS heads with 2.02 valves (vortec)
Competition cam
comp cam roller rockers
Eagle SIR connecting rods

Stock manifolds with 2 1/2" exhaust with turbo mufflers

Has a good deep sound.

I may be onto something... maybe a side job?
This is the 2nd time I have rebuilt this engine, the first time was just a simple rebuild with most of the original parts. I enjoyed disasembling the engine to see what held upand what didn't. I see you are from Atchson KS, I rebuilt the engine at my parents house in Chanute KS.

Thanks for the reply. I have a XE268H in mine. The Extreme energy cams seem to be a good line, I have only heard good things about them (except that they are a little noisy).

Yes, it is a bit noisier than before I rebuilt it, getting use to it though.

Re: 327 Engine rebuild pics

I'm planning on rebuilding my 327 here pretty soon. This will be my first rebuild. I'm having trouble finding out what I need to put in it.

I'm definitely thinking a 600 or 650 cfm Holley carb. That's about where my motor knowledge stops.
What do you recommend for an intake manifold?
What size cam do I need if I just get my factory heads machined?
Is it worth it to purchase some new heads?
If so, what kind?

Re: 327 Engine rebuild pics

NICE MOTOR! I love the 327,too. Is that the '68 large journal? That's what I built for my '67 GMC project. Can't wait for the day the truck is built around it. My machinist talked me into an air gap intake. I had a vintage manifold with the tell tale oil fill tube I wanted to use to show it's a 327. I went with the old style 64cc heads, too, for that reason. I keep thinking to go with aluminum Vortec heads. Oh well,I know it's a 327 in there. May even go with a wilder cam since I decided to run an M22 behind it rather than an automatic. I didn't want to need a high stall convertor. Mine's built to about 325 horse as it is now. Seeing yours with 345 makes me want MORE!
