1959 Impala Steering Wheel - What do I need?

Hey guys,

I'm considering installing a repro 15" 1959 Impala steering wheel. I have a 78 original steering column with tilt. The wheels are designed for the 59 steering column. Have been scouring the web and this site for the past day trying to determine what I need.

Wondering if anyone has done this, with the horn working, and what I need to pull it off?

http://www.classicchevy.com/chevy-st...1959-1960.html

Horn kit:

And then an adapter to late model steering columns:

Is that pretty much all that's needed? Any surprises I might encounter? Hate to invest that kind of money to find out something won't work!

In addition to what you have already listed I would think you are going to need some kind of adapter to install that steering wheel on the later model tilt column you have, have you contacted Ecklers to discuss your project with them? they should be able to provide the necessary parts you will need to install on that late model column.............then be sure to post pics for us once you have completed the install.

I have a 62 Impala wheel on a 87 Blazer tilt column. The horn wouldn't work consistently so I went with a floor mounted momentary switch next to the dimmer. The splines on the wheel lined up with the steering shaft without any issues.

56 Impala`s don`t exist. The Impala did not come out until 1958.

I didn't mess with the horn any further. The floor switch works well for me.
