Tilt....Factory or Van?

I bought a parts truck that had an auto tilt column laying on the seat. How can I tell if it's factory or van?

The way I tell is the shaft at the end of the housing sticks out about 2" on a truck and about 4" on a van. The other way is the location of the nuetral safety switch. A truck's is very close to the firewall and a van's is further up the column (closer to the steering wheel) by about 4-6".
Good Luck

I was wondering myself if the tilt from a 73 up truck would work?

The outer diameter of the later model trucks is larger and would not fit into the opening in the dash, without modification.
Good Luck

Im going to have to disagree on that one Fatfords. Heres why, I pulled 2 columns, one was a tilt the other just a straight column.
The tilt was actually the same length as my stock C-10 column but without a netural safety switch. Now the straight one, was longer about the 4 inches you mention and had a netural safety switch. I pulled the tilt out of a 77 van with the ignition on the dash.

Thanks... somehow my computer default saves all pics a .bmp now and there usually to big in that format. So I resize them and change format to a .jpg ... but it dosent do much for the quality... usually makes things blurry..... oh and all the pics I post are not of items I may have.... Im a collector of 67-72 parts pictures too...lol.
