tailgate protectors and door sill scuff plates ??

what's everyone got to protect the top edge of your tailgate ? can you mod a later model protector to fit the tailgate of a square ? i like the black abs on some later models, way better than the standard chrome cap you normally see.
anyone know of any nice scuff plates ? LMC has got em but $120 so i thought i'd look around before buying those. i'm just finishing up on my 85 and i'll post pics soon.

if you have a really nice paint job and you dont want a big ugly black piece on top of your tailgate.. you should look into a clearbra.

I've just got the brushed aluminum tailgate protector, have not seen a newer-style adapted. Bet you could get one of the aluminum ones powdercoated in black, and I'd think that would hold up well enough.

Is yours original? Mine was really beat up and now that I'm painted I'd like to get another but I don't know where to look for it.

No, aftermarket, and I got it as a freebie from my brother-in-law, when he scrapped his old Chevy. It's a little worn, but then so is my whole truck, so its a nice match, LOL!

I just 'googled' tailgate protector, and found several results. Autozone, Autoanything.com, etc. Looks like $25-$55 should be able to get you something nice.

I used some of that clear plastic adhesive from the Griot's catalog.

I like it (sticks well) and allows you to tailor the amount of coverage you want.
