Electronic speed controller

Anybody know anything about this thing? I am about to put a 3 speed OD unit in my 66 and I just found this at the junk yard. It was in an old 65 way in the back. I was hoping that this is all I need instead of all the toggles and such. I opened it up and it looks as if it is still in great shape! I was wondering how this all works. If someone knows anything at all please post. Thanks Guys!

That's interesting. I don't know anything about it, but it appears to be an early add on cruise control unit. I would say there is likely more to it than what you have there.

Re: Electronic speed controller

i know how it works, there was an extra throttle cable/wire in that bowden tube hooked up to the pedal or even the carb, so when you press on the gas pedal it moves and gets taken up on the reel. when you are at your desired speed you pull it and the toothed rings mesh and it holds the throttle open at that specific point, push it and it releases the cable.

my 63 galaxie had a similar setup, there was a knob on the dash that you pulled out when you were at the desired speed, then pushed in when you wanted to disengage.

you cab barely see the knob in this photo, next to the air conditioning unit.

Re: Electronic speed controller

Thanks Joe i was hoping it engaged and disengaged the overdrive for the 3 speed but now that you say that I can see how that would work. Still cool though and i may use it. Hey whats up with the skull?

Re: Electronic speed controller

Yeah I don't know why they call it electronic it looks pretty mechanical to me.

The skull was the switchbox for the airbags
