79 with a longbed wood floor????

Guys,
i am really curious if Chevy offered a wood floored longbed in 1979. When i bough my truck it had a wood floor and it looked all correct. The paint was all worn the same, similar amount of rust, the wood in the bed was all aged, and it looked like all the harware was right.l The reason why i am asking is because i havent really seen any late 70's trucks that had longbed with the wood floor.

heres a couple pictures.

Does the bed have fuel doors or just an exposed gas cap? 78 was the changeover year.

the truck has the fuel doors. it has the dual tank option. both doors line up and both tanks appear to be factory as well.

Yours looks to be factory correct...and in better shape than most of them.

Also should be listed on your SPID sticker

RPO was E81 ...cost was $99.00

As previously posted last year appears to be 1980

This might be a dumb question, but is there a difference between the SPID sheet and the build sheet? If there is a difference, where would the build sheet be? I found the SPID sheet and it does show the E81 code, I was interested in the rarity of the option.

Re: 79 with a longbed wood floor????

I would like to have a metal floor because they are a lot easier to install and it seems like they would be way more durable. My brother has a wood shop next door so we can make the wood up easy enough out of oak or maple. I think im going to get the polished stainless strips so they dont rust.

Did they come polished from the factory or painted?

The option code for the wood floor was E81. I used to order it for my trucks. If I recall correctly it cost me $60 bucks extra.

The build sheet was often left under the front seat stuck up in the springs;not all plants left them there;LOTS of detail
The spid was a service parts id sticker;all trucks got them

Got one of those sheets under my seat, how do you get it out of there without tearing it?

The "Camper Special" emblem would be located on rear roof pillar.

^ The Camper Special emblem was a cool little teepee instead of the bowtie.
