Mirror barcket.where to find the right one?

hi there, last fall i purchased a steel rechromed mirror bracket for the left side off of e-bay and recently i purchased what was advertised as a chrome right side bracket from e-bay which turned out to be stainless steel which of course does'nt match but my problem is the left side bracket of course stands up high like the originals of course but the arm on the rightside bracket has a much lower angle on it so of course my 5x7 mirror has a portion of it lower than my window. does anyone know a seller that sells the bracket with the correct bend to the arm?other wise i'll have to buy another one that matches the drop like the right one.i would like them to be above the window glass like the originals. any ideas?

thanks!

LMC, Ecklers, Classic parts of America, Classic Industries, Truck Shop, Bow Tie Bits, Tim Tygerts Obsolete Chevy Truck Parts, Classic Truck Parts.......I would stay with the Stainless stell....never rust and easy to polish.

hey thanks for the reply, but i guess what i am trying to ask is if anyone knows who makes the bracket where the arm goes more in a upwards direction like the originals.otherwise i will buy another one that the arm's angle is much lower.if all of the repop's are at the same lower angle then i'll have to settle with those.

Most of the repops are made by the same manufacturer. Have you compared it to an OEM part? Might be worth finding NOS part

yes i figured most of the repops were the same but i was hoping that someone might have made one that had the correct angle on the bar itself.the chrome one looks to be o.e. and i like it but perhaps i will have to sell the chrome one and pickup another repro to make them match.

thanks!

Re: Mirror barcket.where to find the right one?

I have an original OEM mirror arm I picked up in a wrecking yard 20 years ago. It’s shown in the first photo. The arm in the second photo was purchased from Chevy Duty 14 years ago.

They both appear to be identical in shape. So I’m not sure searching for an OEM bracket will solve the problem. I don’t remember ever seeing an original style mirror arm or aftermarket replacement that is as tall as the chrome version you have.

There are so many aftermarket parts that are not even close to original specs, I would suspect it’s likely the tall chrome arm is aftermarket. Hopefully another member has one formed in the same shape that can identify the manufacturer.

I haven't seen any OE 60-66 to compare, but I know on the OE/repro 47-54, and the 55-9 the RH brackets are shaped different than the LH

yours seem to have the correct slant on them and i see where the base meets the door the curve seems to be right.the stainless one i got does'nt match the door at all.the center of the base is lower than the outsides so it would have to be bent straight to match the door.i listed my chrome one on e-bay,maybe i should keep it and wait for another one that will fit properly for the right side.

thanks for the picture!
