trans no leak , then leak
Hello again everyone,
Been running my th350 here and there and no leaks. Decided to install the new speedo cable, came back the next day to a big puddle Just wondering if anybody had this happen just by sticking the cable in there? Is there a spec depth that the inner cable has to go and if its too deep it leaks? Do enlighten this noob. Thanks Brian Posted via Mobile Device

Re: trans no leak , then leak
well it's like the one on my '61 wagon that leaked it was the o ring in the housing that the speed cable screws on too... the gear that drives the cable fits in an o ring and the cable goes into the gear... for some reason the o ring was not pushed in far enough and wasn't sealing around the gear.. you may have to take the housing out of the trans to make sure it's sealed around the gear... just a hint: let the trans set for a while before you do this and it should not lose to much fluid... hope this helps.

Re: trans no leak , then leak
Thanks for yoyur reply!
There is a lot on this doing a google search. It has to be the inner seal. What thru me off was without the cable on there it did not leak. Maybe when i inserted the new cable it popped the inner seal. I guess its better to happen now then on the road after the truck is finished. Posted via Mobile Device
