Re: Square body lean...

Put a shim between the leaf spring and axle perch on the low side.

Shim thickness will need to be close to (but slightly less) than the amount of the lean.

Re: Square body lean...

I have a flip kit in the rear so if i put shim between axle and leaf spring on low side won't that make the low side worse? Would it be ok to swap the leaf springs from driver to passenger side? The difference is almost an inch from driver to passenger in the rear, haven't measured the front yet. Thanks for the help.

Re: Square body lean...

Mine has a 1" difference between the right and left side!! The gap difference is noticable when viewed from the rear. I hope to correct it with a C-notch and shims.

Re: Square body lean...

Mine has it too. It's normally driver's side from years of the weight of the driver as opposed to the gas tank, but I guess both could be contributors. Obviously the best fix would be new springs. I'm getting ready to try and adjust mine a bit by moving the front leaf spring hangers. Going to move the low side about 3/4 of the difference. Think that will work at least for awhile?

With a flip kit you put the shim on the other side. (Instead of shimming the low side up, you'll be shimming the high side down).

You can try the spring swap (side for side) - it might help but it may not.

Re: Square body lean...

My 73 c10 had that lean too. It was lower on the pass side that had the gas tank. I removed the leafs to do a flip and discovered the leafs on pass side were flattened out. I guess from the weight of the gas all these years. Went and bought leafs off a suburban at junk yard and they were the answer to my lean since subs have rear mounted gas tanks. They were exactly the same on each side. Anyhow, if you remove your leafs and set them upside down on ground you can easily check if they are the same or if one side has flattened out. Worked for me.

Re: Square body lean...

This might have been an isolated incident but my trucks rear passenger side leaf spring bolt had elongated the spring hanger.

Where do you find shims for the front coils?

Re: Square body lean...

I had a lean, but got real close to level by swapping my leafs in the rear side to side. Passenger side was noticeably higher than the driver side.

Pep Boys sells coil spring spacers, if you're going that route.

Re: Square body lean...

I did a flip, bought new shocks, coils, spindles, all that jazz. I just decided to get new leafs while I was at it to correct my lean. Everything else was replaced, whats another 226 bucks lol. Im putting a center mounted fuel cell in mine though to help with getting gas every 2 days and hopefully prevent lean later on. That lean was annoying though

Re: Square body lean...

mine has a lean, but feels to me like its on the front. i blamed it on myself. when doing the 5.3 swap, i moved the battery to the drivers side so i could use the 04 air cleaner and tubing.
