1971 deluxe 3/4 ton 4x4 with a 4 speed? I know it isn't the most desirable combination in a lot of the country and this kind of rarity won't increase its value, I am simply wondering.

She's going back to stock, hopefully going to look similar to this sometime in the summer.

Around here 3/4 ton 4x4 with four speeds are not that rare. The truck that you want to mimic is very sharp! Good luck on your build.

Exterior wise that is how mine would have looked new, same paint and trim.

the pic is a half-ton on ebay, I think that's the overall visual "look" goal for the project. One note - price on the stripped down C10 dropped $2K to only $18900! It is very nice though.

Anyhoo - back to the original question - I think a 3/4 4x4 custom deluxe is NOT rare - but it is NICE - so if you like it, go for it. If you're wanting to restore something rare, then it's a roll of the dice - probably not so much. To me, what you're looking at is MORE desirable because you get into it for less $ up front and won't feel like you've sold your life savings on the initial purchase price. They'll all be rare eventually...

You are asking how rare a Custom Deluxe K/20 pickup is with a 4spd. It's not rare. '71,when Custom Deluxes came out,was only the second year automatics were offered. Most people buying a K/20 back then were truck guys who would be slow to accept that an automatic belongs in a heavy duty truck. The exception was the RV market,which included pickups back then. I'd say most Customs were manual with automatics the exception,in Custom Deluxe there would be a closer split between manual & auto,and getting into the Cheyennes you'll find more automatics. That's what my experience has been. I had a K/20 Custom Deluxe 4spd that was a Highlander. I have seen only a few Highlander K/20s and mine is the only 4spd one I've ever seen. Definitely rare.

Thank you for your input. I am going to paint mine and drive it until there's no more gas to be had, so rarity wasn't the factor, I just like it.

One other question about the marker lights. I would have figured a deluxe would get the fancy stainless trimmed market lights, but mine had on the plain ones when I got it. Also seems like it would have had woodgrain lower trim (of which i'm not a fan) since I had woodgrain stickers on the lower inside door and in the cupholders in the glovebox.

Wood grain cup holder circles,huh? That was added by someone. The wood grain on the door is below the upholstered door panel? If so,that was added also. If you ean the wood grain at the top of the door panel,all Custom Deluxes,Cheyennes and Cheyenne Supers got the same panel and Customs got steel. The lower side trim would be black on Customs and Custom Deluxes. The deluxe side markers only came on Cheyennes and Cheyenne Supers. Also,Custom Deluxes didn't get the fancy peddles.
