Metal Part of Dashboard
Well, I am hoping someone can help me out with what to do because I am getting really frustrated. The metal part of my dash (part welded in your dash pad goes on) was badly messed up and not worth saving. So, I cut it out. Now, it appears there isn't one place that makes a reproduction metal portion that I can weld back in. Does anyone know of where I can find one? All the people on craigslist just want to sell the entire cab. Not really sure what I can do at this point.
I'd appreciate any advice. |

Re: Metal Part of Dashboard
I've heard that part is very hard to replace anyway, but maybe look at junkyards?

Re: Metal Part of Dashboard
Junkyard is your only bet unless you know someone who is going to scrap a bad cab.

Re: Metal Part of Dashboard
Thanks all. I actually did find a replacement one from diy4x.com. It's actually pretty cool. I have made 3 attempts at making a dash myself and with all 3 of them the build was not what I had hoped it would be. But this seems like a great alternative for those with a 73 to 87 who want a completed, aluminum, tig welded replacement. Fairly affordable starting at $290, with a few options you can choose from. The only other place I found for our trucks started at $895 or something. It was a bit more finished and clean but too much for my blood. I will try and remember the other dash, but I attached a pic of the diy4x one.

What was the place that had them for $895? Ive seen the one you pictured, which is pretty sweet. Just curious what the other one looks like.
