Exclamation 69-72 NOS Door Handles on a 67/68 Tech. Question

Hi, calling on the some of you gurus in the know here. Will NOS exterior door handles 69-72 3927895 = Left & 3927899 = Right fit on 67/68 doors? Aftermarket handles list only one handle. I know there is a slight difference between the angle of the push rod, or mounting bolt. But does it actally affect these working? I believe the 67/68 are part numbers 3901463 = Left 3905683 = Right.

Please let me know. Thanks for lending your knowledge
-Richard

My mom always had the best advice. It was just a tad late. After a fall that involved blood, she'd say....."Careful!"

Re: 69-72 NOS Door Handles on a 67/68 Tech. Question

I vote no but I am not 100% positive. I know on a 67 door (maybe early 68) there is a plate welded on the inside of the door. I think this plate would keep the 68-72 door handles from mounting correctly.

On a 67 door the access holes were round because the plate made it possible to go straight in to access the bolts. on a 68-72 door the holes were tear shaped because you had to go in at a angle.

Thanks, Jason. BTW, did you ever open up your AM/FM and look for the missing drum?

No, I have not attempted to do it yet. I need to do the radio, install an original dash pad that is nicer than my original dash pad, and fix the fuel gauge. I want to do them all at the same time so that I can try to install the original glove box liner that is good now but I don’t think it can survive another removal…..Jason
