Cheap Monroe Lowering shocks !!!!

Hey guys ive been doing some research on what shocks to get and been reading all your posts about lowering shocks....

I read and confirmed that CPP's 5in or more (black-magic)lowering shocks for the rear of our trucks are the same part # they sell for the front stock shocks for our trucks...

Then i read that "monroe monro-matic #32207" are what some of you guys are running for rear lowered and stock front shocks.....

then i read that relocating the front shock mounting point up higher by 2"-2 1/2" (homemade brackets or CPP sells some)that you can still run the stock front shocks when you lower the front with out buying front lowering shocks....

So I basically needed 4 "monroe monro-matic #32207" shocks....

I searched around parts stores and on the web for "monroe monro-matic #32207" shocks which came out anywhere from $18 to $25 a piece.....which was still a good price for decent shocks....

But then i came across a guy selling "MONROE MATIC SHOCK ABSORBERS PART #PG5254B/1004" on ebay that says they are monroes old stock and are the same shock as "monroe monroe-matic #32207"......"#32207" is the new part number for these shocks....

I went to monroe website and "#32207" shocks have:
Compressed Length 11.250"
Extended Length 17.875"
Travel Length 6.625"

and by reading his listing monroe "#PG5254B/1004" have:
Compressed Length 11.250"
Extended Length 17.88"

slight difference in extended length......

HERES THE CATCH!!!!!!

His listing says:
All items are sold AS-IS, there is no guarantee of the item's functionality. We try to describe our items to the best of our abilities. Unless otherwise stated there are no warranties given or implied by this sale, or the manufacturer.....

So they might or might not all be functioning is what i got out of that statement , even tho this is what is said on his other ebay motors listing for parts .....

HERES CATCH #2
he has two listings for these shocks one listing is for individual shocks at $9.99 a shock with $8.00 shipping that = 17.99 a shock before shipping...might as well just buy "monroe monro-matic #32207" off ebay for $18.95 a shock before taxs with free shipping....

BUT HERE"S THE DEAL:
his second listing for these shocks is 4 for $39.99 with $15 dollars shipping...after checkout with my paypal the total shipped was 54.99

I plan on making my own front shock relocation mounts which shouldnt cost me anything using parts i have so might cost you more if you have to buy some relocation mounts and might not be worth it to buy these but for me itll work!

so you do the math and be the judge just a heads up for anyone looking for cheap shocks......and your willing to take a gamble on ebay parts..

I might be wrong on monroe #32207 shocks being the best for lowering shocks but thats what i got out of reading past post on the subject, its up to you guys to confirm this and make your own decision.....

heres his link on ebay for the listing for 4 shocks:

I`m thinking that maybe not nessarily the best but the valving in the body was originally set up for pickups Ford / Dodge or chevy in this case rear shock not the front due to inconsistent weight loads, front shock will take a differant loaded valving...

Compressed length of 11'' sounds tall to me; first impression anyway.

Re: Cheap Monroe Lowering shocks !!!!

That was Lakeroaster`s orginal set up with relocated upper mounts and he was not as low as most here, I guess what we are suggesting that this is the appropiate shock given you are still using the truck as a dailey driver and that you have made the shock mount corrections for you given height, if you are using lowering blocks there would be no mount modifications needed, only if your changing spring height.

Re: Cheap Monroe Lowering shocks !!!!

Huh well rain on my parade....stock monroe's compress at 10' ....I geuss ill have two spare shocks for the rear then....basically two free shocks if i was just going to buy two "32207" shocks it would be around the the same price.....

they say monroe "32207" are replacements for front shocks for 60's International trucks and 50's f-250 trucks they might have worked.....

Dont mind me i sometimes mummble to my self out loud..LOL

Re: Cheap Monroe Lowering shocks !!!!

Hey Tim, you brought up some good points for all, a lot of this depends on each truck owner and how drops his truck and how low, this a varible, and not all shocks are the same, I never gave it to much though til you came in with your post and I thought that ( john ) lakeroaster it down pat, so to each truck build it will change slighty and some pretty generic, use will factor into this as well, whether they carry 500 lb blocks all day or twenty lbs of Bud in the back.

Re: Cheap Monroe Lowering shocks !!!!

My case I have 5 inch CPP springs in back, when installed sat to low, I added 3 1/4 inch spacers on each side, so ride height is where I wanted it, springs are to soft to carry much of anything, 100 lb weight against the tail gate and it will bottom out, thinking of going ECE c20 lowered springs for the back but have`nt gotten around to it yet, I`ll send them an e-mail today to confirm my use with ECE...when that is done I`ll set my shock mounts accordingly, fronts are another issue, I`ll do a little research see what I can find.

Re: Cheap Monroe Lowering shocks !!!!

Attached is a link to a thread on the HAMB that has all of the shock info from the Monroe site that has been rearranged to a more user friendly format. Maybe this will help someone. Lakeroadster had listed something similiar a while back but this is a little easier to work with.
