Driveshaft disassembly help needed
To all you seasoned veterans out there…I need some tips on disassembling my driveshafts so I can clean them up and replace some worn parts. I got the snap rings off. Now what? How do I free the cross from the unit? Any advice is much appreciated. Thanks for your time.

You will have to press or hammer them out. A ball joint press will work. Or a hammer and a socket and a vice. Might need some heat or penetrating oil.

A good 6" vise will work for most of the u-joints. I use two sockets one for pressing against one of the bearing cups and a larger one to allow the opposite bearing cup to go into. Soak the u-joints down with a penetrant ahead of time so that it will help loosen the cups.
