Big Block?

Just bought another 68, my question.... was a 396 a FACTORY option for a 1/2 ton (C10) in 1968?

yes,68 was first year, not common (or so I've read here) I have one, also.
Is yours 4 Bbl or 2 Bbl???

I have a 68 CE code (Counter Exchange) 396 4 bbl engine in back of garage, thought about putting in mine. I noticed your name... thought you might enjoy my recent purchase. Thanks, for the info.

So did you get it better than the $2500 price on CL? That's a cool truck and would be sweet to see redone with a 396/402 in it and original paint.

I would love to see more pics as well. I was pretty interested in that truck, just a little to far away from me. Glad someone here picked it up though.

Ditto - that's a truck with a cool history - anniv and all, I mean.
What's in it now? Does it run?
It's probably gonna be worth a pretty penny if completely restored, however, I am with you - if you have a big block and that's what you want for it, by all means - build it how you like it and don't even blink an eye. Although I DO love the gold/white two-tone....

suppose to have a dealer replaced 350, from around 30 years ago. it is a one owner. Im going to pick it up tomorrow... I have done a couple of these with 5.3s which makes them great drivers. but thought of maybe getting the BB out of the way... Truck will never be painted... as long as i own it, rather. cause you are only a virgin once.... lol

I wouldn't paint it either. I'd just get out the good'ol simple green and a scrub brush and clean off all the grim and then either leave it or wax it to bring back the original colour a bit. Deff more of a dirty ol hot rod truck. If I were closer I probably would've bought it too.

It is a radio delete and no gauge truck motor is said to be 327 (not verified yet).

Why yes, yes it was (this SPID is off a 68 Anniversary): Notice it has no
"Anniversary" callout on the SPID other than the special paint and code - but it does have the big block.

Thanks for the pic. THAT is a rusty cob!!!!

I'm not into the original rust/patina deal. I sanded all the rust spots on mine down, and sprayed black over it, about 10 years ago to help preserve mine...

I've owned mine since 1980. Everyone tells me to scrap that pile. I tell them to mind the own beeswax...LOL I keep gathering parts and pieces. Trying to align the time and money issues together...

I have a 67 I'm trying to grt going first, then the 68. The 67 will have a 406 SBC, the 68 will get the 396 re-done, both will be converted to 5 lug/disc brakes...

SOme day soon I will post some pics...

Would like to see more of yours!!!
