Axle Swap 78->65

Fellas,
I have a 65 chevy 1/2 ton with original everything pretty much. I have a donor 1978 1/2 ton that I'm pulling the enigne out for another project. I was thinking to take the front and rear axles, suspension, power brakes, power steering....everything and put them on the 65 frame. Is this possible without too much trouble. I know i've heard of the being done but I can't seem to find anything on here in regards to an axle swap such as this. Any help is appreciated thx!!!

Jason

Re: Axle Swap 78->65

its really easy here is the thread http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/s...d.php?t=367260 and for the rear axle just remove the old trailing arm saddles from your old axle or buy new one and weld them on, also remember the 78 axle is 1.5 inches wider but does not present a problem

Re: Axle Swap 78->65

I just recently did the exact same thing to my '64. As far as the rear end, if you decide to lower it, I would highly suggest the Super Track Bar Kit from Early Classic. This solves the issue with the factory track bar (too short) and it also relocates the shocks for a much better ride.
