Noob with a 77 silverado.!
A little about me first my name is Carlos. I'm from Kentucky. I'm a certified machanic and love classics. I just bought my second square body. The first I was 15 and had to sell befor I got to do much driving. I'm leaving the tuner scene to find some thing more apt for my young family.
So I decided to buy a truck. Well even tho I've been a Honda guy for a long while now I have always loved classics. So since I needed a daily and a truck why not buy an old one. I don't have a ton of plans but who knows. The truck I chose had to be a long bed for hauling and had to be usefull. It had to be pretty damn solid with no major problems. The truck needed to have pretty straight panels. I don't want a ton of body work. Most of all it had to serve one main purpose get me around. Well my purchase was a 77 silverado. The truck is a one owner with 60k on it. It has been well taken care of. Paint is faded but hell it's not my color any way. The interior is almost perfect. This thing starts and drives like its 1978. Im pretty excited about it. The 350 in it still has all the stickers and the factory a/c. Plus it's allways good to have the factory owners manual and everything he had from the dealer. Plans: Paint and body. Satin black and white two tone. Red painted wheels with the factory snap rings. Interior. The headliner is the only thing I am goin to touch just because its sagging. May be new gauges and trim but it's still in good shape for now. Suspension. I want to do a 5/5 drop at least. I don't want the rake to go away I like it. I plan on doing all new front end parts. My lovely wife bought me a set of slapper bars from the 70's off a guy for it already. Drive train. The oe 350 is doing just fine for now. The only mods I want to do is a cam just for the thump and a gear drive. Ill leave the factory gearing and all that because the truck gets decent mileage. Posted via Mobile Device |

This truck is a lwb. I bought it about 90 miles away from where I live. I really dont want to considering the extremely low miles and all the paper work with it. But cash talks.

It's a pretty solid old dude. Nothing but a little surface rust. None of which can you see through. Just fresh out of the barn. Which around here is hard to find. Thanks for the positivity!

Nice truck! I love the color combination, I don't think I've ever seen it. That would look really cool with the original colors redone.

It's an odd color combo for sure with the dark silver and the fire thorn red but the gold trim throws me off. What is special about the gold trim.?

^GM gave the trim a yellow paint stripe for '77.

Re: Noob with a 77 silverado.!
Just contacted an old friend that builds air bag setups and I may be donating my truck for a little research. So if I get the oppritunity he's going to build me a whole bolt on 4link setup. I think this maybe my lucky day.

Welcome aboard !
Very good looking truck for the area. I like the old round eye trucks.
73-79 is my favorite. I really like that woodgrain trim. These old chevy trucks are beast's. Treat em' right, and they'll give you manny years of service.

Re: Noob with a 77 silverado.!
I am getting tons of support. Custom one off 4link, paint and body work, and a lil under the hood lovin. For some reason everyone I talk to is trying to help me along so much they are super excited about this build. I have consulted with my wife and even though it's a rare color I'm going to be changing it to black and white.
