Re: Went on the parkway today

Tank should be 16 Gal. 1/8 of a tank would be about 2 gal used. Say 25-30 mins of driving is probably 25 to 30 miles....so my guess is about 13-15 MPG....depending on how accurate the gauge is. 15 Is about right for a 6 in these big trucks.. Some get better, some worse depending on a multitude of factors.

Re: Went on the parkway today

Top the tank off, drive around for a while recording your mileage with the Odometer (Or a GPS), top the tank back off, compare the miles you went to the fuel needed to fill it back up. That is your mileage.

The more miles you do the more accurate the number will be, and going back to the same pump can't hurt either...

Re: Went on the parkway today

is it long bed or short bed? I think long beds have 20 gallon tanks ,short have 16

You drove about 30 minutes I'm assuming at 60 mph so thats 30 miles

16 gallons divided by 1/8 is 2. 30miles divided by 2 gallons is 15mpg

20 divided by 1/8 is 2.5 30 miles divided by 2.5 is 12 mpg

I have heard these six motors get anything from 12 to 20 mpg
depending on gearing ,transmission type, speed, state of tune,
weather conditions ,old tired or fresh motor , how much junk in bed

oops I got to rambling,

your mileage sounds about right

good looking truck

Nice looking truck looks like you had fun cruising in it. Yea I have never had a v6 but like stated above I have heard of about 15-20 mpg depending on your lead foot and tune up haha.

this is the only way to know, the gauge is only a rough estimate of how much fuel you have and will very as the tank empty's
an 1/8 out of full tank can very as much as gallon or compair'd to an 1/8 out of a 1/4 tank of fuel.

Re: Went on the parkway today

Our 78 Scottsdale 10 has the 250 I6 (monojet), 3 on the tree and 3:42's outback and she's been averaging 16mpg since we picked her up in Detroit back in '78. 256,000 miles and never overhauled..... (yet)
