What all is invloved in removing a steering column?
Hey everyone!
Not sure if any of you remember, but I did a welding hack job on my column, and it finally broke, I located a solid new one, and I wanna know what it takes to pull a column. Is it just a matter of disconnecting the electronics, undoing the bolts then just pulling it out, or is there anything else that I need to know about? Any tutorials with pictures would be useful...

You've got it, thats all there is to it. You might want to yank the wheel off for some more room though. It's very simple

Uhh, I took out the four bolts that are just under my bezel, and also four or five bolts down by the firewall, no matter how hard I pull on the thing, it doesn't move, and I am afraid that the steering wheel is about to break off (yes, it is that bad...)
What am I missing? Is there anything that I have to do in the engine compartment?

yes, follow the column all the way down and there are four more bolts and if you have a automatic you need to disconnect the shifter. Make sure you have all the bolts out of the gasket thing in the firewall

Ah, found the problem, there is a bolt that goes through the column sideways attaching it to the control arm in the engine compartment, took it out and the whole thing slid right out
off to the wreckers I go!
