Re: 79 chevy igntion switch issue

the rod that goes down from the left side of the collumn to the electric ingnition switch on the lower collumn is not installed correctly. if you move the gear selector up or down while turning the key does it get easier? how does it feel in nuetral? reason i ask because the gear selector housing it self has small notches in it for the rod to pass through. wish i took pictures when i built mine. hope you understand what i am saying.

Re: 79 chevy igntion switch issue

i saw the rod that goes down the column, and that would make sense that it would cause it to be in a bind. but the sh8ifter is also in a bind its hung in park so i cant realy see if putting it in neutrial helps eny

Re: 79 chevy igntion switch issue

okay take off the ignition switch the electric one not the tumber and let the rod hang out of the switch then see if you can turn the key or move the gear selector. i also believe that you can only replace the ignition tumbler when it is in nuetral or else it does not clock in correctly. A common problem is also for the tumbler rack kit will brake thats why i rebuilt my collumn. take some pictures or video of what you got going on ill try to be any help i can
