Weird tail light wiring issue
Well guys, I have kind of a weird issue going on with my truck. The wires got ripped out and I hooked them back up the way they were (pretty sure...) and now its all screwed up. The tail light wiring is a rats nest, there is no connector, just a ton of splices.
No brake lights. Right turn signal works good Left turn signal is screwed up. Every time it blinks, the dash lights come on. And it stays solid when I turn the parking lights on. 4 ways work ok, the dash lights don't come on, left side blinks when the parking lights are on Not sure what it could be, but I know nothing about wiring and I don't know what to do!! Any help would be appreciated.

Re: Weird tail light wiring issue
Update: I fixed the brake lights, the switch on the column was loose. However, I lied :p When the 4 ways are on, they don't blink when the parking lights are on.
When I hit the brakes, the dash lights come on...

Re: Weird tail light wiring issue
Sounds like bad ground connection, you might have a broken ground cable in there if the harness got ripped out.

Re: Weird tail light wiring issue
Maybe easier to get the harness out a truck in the wrecking yard?

Re: Weird tail light wiring issue
Well I tore into it pretty good today, and in the looms, there were a bunch of splices and taped up connections, and missing grounds and jumpers and all that crap. I ripped it all out and I'm going to either rewire it by hand or just get a harness like '86 suggested.
Thanks guys, I appreciate it. I'll post again when I get it fixed!

Re: Weird tail light wiring issue
I got a harness from the JY and everything works again!
Now I have a problem, I don't have any marker lights. Not even the front ones light up. Fuses look good and the bulbs are good since the turn signals work. Or could the filaments on the bulbs be bad?
