CA smog legal headers
Are there any headers available that dont need the tube welded in for the smog pump and maybe already come with it? My 77 Heavy Half ton doesnt require ALL the smog stuff (IE catalytic convertor) but must retain the smog pump. Any ideas?

Re: CA smog legal headers
Try Hedman headers PN# 69231 or 69831. Both of these headers come smog legal for the c.a.r.b. These seem to be the only ones that I've found that are still available to be made, and are a decent price. Both will be a long tube design and not a shortie header like Edelbrocks discontinued header series. I've phoned Hedman headers a few days ago and it will take about 3 weeks to build these headers and ship to your door.

Re: CA smog legal headers
Funny you should mention Hedman. They offer several different version of CARB compliant headers, but expect long lead times as they tend to build to order! I ordered HED-69891 (CA) HEADERS from Summit at the beginning of January and still waiting for Headman to finish them.

Re: CA smog legal headers
I bought some reasonably cheap ones off Summit (or was it Jegs???) for my '87 crew no more than a year or so ago.
They have pretty thin flanges, and the place for the smog tubes to attach is in a different location than what is stock, but they worked. I ordered the Edelbrock headers, but had to return them as they flat would not work for me, although I don't remember specificaly why? I have a case of "sometimers"...

Re: CA smog legal headers
I've got the Hedman shorties and y-pipe setup on mine that have the smog injection tubes welded in. Having a hell of a time getting them to seal up. I think the flanges are tweaked or something. Gonna double up the header gaskets and use some high temp rtv to see if it'll work.
