Which way should I go, Dually or wide wheels
HI guys,
I want your opinions/survey on what to do. Next year or so I will start transforming my 72 suburban. Basically its going to be hot rodded. I'm not sure what I want to do with the wheels, and these are the options I want to do. 1. big fat wheels/tires, probably 18 x 15 wheels rear, 20 x 10 (maybe wider?) front. Obviously I will have to tub it and have tires as close to the chassis as possible. 2. Go the Dually truck looking way, but with big aluminum or chrome 191/2 inch 8 lug wheels or bigger 10 lug wheels with adapters as in the pictures below. Does anybody know if you can fit duallys under the back guards without the later model flares? I have seen it done obviously I would have to tub the interior. This would be the 10 lugger (too big??) without flares, how would this be done?

I like the 10 lug look. However I think you'd have to have outer fenders to make it look right JMO. If that's not feasable I say tub it and go with a wide single.

when you do your rear conversion get the rear axle from a cab and cassis drw truck, they are narrower then the regular rear axle and will let you set your wheels compleatly inboard with no flares needed check out this link it shows the fitment

Dually Suburbans are bad AZZ!!!! I want to go that route myself.
I'm looking for some step side fenders to dually out the back end with. Keep us posted on the progress. Chris

Re: Which way should I go, Dually or wide wheels
I think I am leaning toward Duallies! I havent seen anyone do it here in Australia yet, I'm thinking 22 1/2 inch wheels now. Mine Suby wont be lowered to much. There is a good variety out there and relatively cheap compared to 20 x 15 wide rears with tires! I might also make some custom rear fenders? to suit the lines of the truck rather than using later model fenders.
