calling all LSx swap with 6L80 or 90-e
I am looking at electronic transmission now that it looks like I'll be running efi soon. I had originally thought 4L80e but the more I thought about it...if I was tossing on some technology I might as well take full advantage of it...as in a 6 speed transmission. While I'd like to put a t-56 in there an automatic is more practical. After all....my truck already has a successor. My grandson!
SO.....how's the fit on these two transmissions with our trucks tunnel setup. Is a tall (turbo 400?) trans cover needed over the short one ????...or just a little selective cutting and pounding? Thanks!

Re: calling all LSx swap with 6L80 or 90-e
I just went from a 5.3/4l60 to a 6.0/4l80 setup in my 67. It fit well. However, I had to trim a portion of the tranny to use my Thorley swap headers, move the tranny crossmember and change my exhaust. Currently everything is bolted in and I should fire it up this weekend!

Re: calling all LSx swap with 6L80 or 90-e
Thanks all. Trying to get this done (6L80 or 90e purchase) before my E38 & custom harness/ecm ship. Finding late models for $1k or so depending on miles

What type of FI are you going to use?

Re: calling all LSx swap with 6L80 or 90-e
EFI? I was talking efi and it will be the stock L92/LY6 truck setup to start with. I made a deal so its one of those "you get what you get" scenarios. I have a thought in the back of my head tho.... to slowly swap that setup into a custom setup using port injection and a 1000fcm 4bbl throttle body.
FI? I've spoken about adding one (TVS1900 or TVS2300) to the TBSS sometime after the wife retires it and I get it late this summer.

Re: calling all LSx swap with 6L80 or 90-e
I meant EFI.. my fat finger typing didn't help. I'm also using the truck stuff on my Lq4. However, I have an LS6 setup I have considered using to get the most out of the cam and stall I'm running. I've heard nothing but good stuff about the LY6 setups with a good cam.

Has been strong combo as a carb'd setup. I have also considered running a car intake. If you're gonna twist it up to 7k or so, then I think its worth it.
