Your method isn’t figuring the actual mpg.

You need to fill it completely till it click off by it’s self & write down the miles on the odometer.

Then go a week or so writing down each time you put gas in how many gallons you put in, no need to mess with writing the miles you drove yet.

Then fill up the tank, preferably with the same station/pump you originally filled it and let it fill till it clicks off by its self again & write down your mileage & gallons.

Add all the gallons you put in thru the week, subtract the miles from when you originally filled it from the miles now. Divide that by the gallons.

That will give you the actual average mpg.
