what happen in 1987 ???
i want to buy parts for an '87 chevy c-10,,,,, but when i look that up on any site i get,,, g10 or r10 or v10,,,, what happen to C-10 trucks that year? what one = C-10 so i can order the correct parts?
my truck is put together from a few diffrant year models, '84-91, i need to buy fuel injection parts for an 87 swb,,, because i am running a 16 gal. tank with fuel pump in tank and a tbi.... the truck is actually an 84 crew cab with a shortened frame for a short wide bed box, i wanted to keep the 3/4 ton springs, so only a 16 gal. tank would fit, but i have used a 90 sub motor, trans and all the wiring.... now im trying to buy a fuel sending unit for the 16 gal. tank square body truck with fuel injection, later i plan on adding duel tanks,,, if i can ever find the parts to get one working,,,lol any help will be greatly appriciated... |

Re: what happen in 1987 ???
in 87 they changed them to r/v so there would be less confusion of the upcoming 88-98 body style so they could use the c/k name

Re: what happen in 1987 ???
1987 changed to the R/V series trucks.
R is 2wd V is 4wd and of course 10 is 1/2 ton 20 is 3/4 ton 30 is 1 ton From what I understand GM did that to prepare for the next year, and alleviate confusion . The square body burbs, crews, blazers and duallys were remaining but they were rolling out a new design that was slated to be the new C/K series EDIT: ^^those guys up there beat me to it

Re: what happen in 1987 ???
i dont know if it was worth it. no one really uses the c/k for 88+ trucks they just say 4x4 or 2wd 1500, 2500 and 3500

Re: what happen in 1987 ???
That's what I find more than not. I go in asking for parts stating the year and K/20,C/10,or whatever it is,then the parts guy asks 2wd or 4wd then 1/2 or 3/4t. So,it really doesn't matter.

You'll notice we never did it that way again; for future body changeovers we always changed the model code/wheelbase designation, but kept the C/K naming. K
