My 62 It got caught in the rat trap

This is my 1962 ugly duckling 1962 that has been used as a rat rod. It is dirty filthy, nasty. Even a rat rod deserves better. I will be sharing pictures as improvements are made. Won't be a show truck but It will be a very nice street truck.

Does your truck run and drive? Is it a stepside or fleetside?

Re: My 62 It got caught in the rat trap

It is hard to belive but this old truck runs and drives like a dream. It has a
454 , 400 trans and a 9" Ford rear end. It has power steering but no power brakes. Has a yekkie B&M ratchet shifter that I had to rework before I could drive it any distance, that was yesterday. It has headers with two Chev stock type mufflers dumped behind the rear end makes no noise but sound healthy, I'm likeing it more every day. I was surprised about the rust in it, the bottom of the fenders and corners of the doors have it but not all that bad rockers or floors are very solid. I have a pair of rust free fenders I will use on it but I bet I will have a hard time finding doors and a chev van keyless steering column where I can get rid of the ratchet shifter. I need all the help I can get so any advice and or suggestion send my way Please.

Re: My 62 It got caught in the rat trap

Looks like a good starter rig for a project, do you know what you want to do with it?

I ask because mine was just going to be a drop a motor in it, rattle can some color on it, and drive the piss out of it.
Now I am almost to a total frame off and doing body work and all kinds of stuff that was not in the original concept....

I am dredfully hooked because it is incredibly fun (and is a major excuse to aquire more tools!!)

Good luck, and thanks for more pics !!
