LMC Exhaust kit fitment issues?

Has anyone with this kit had fitment issues? I was trying to install mine this afternoon and the angle on the first pipe is wrong so it won't mate up to the exhaust manifold. Anyone had this problem? I think I will have to have a muffler shop bend the pipe so it will fit correctly?

Re: LMC Exhaust kit fitment issues?

Yep, I had problems with the six cylinder exhaust kit. Had the wrong bends and angles. I was able to make it work by twisting and fighting with it and moving some mounts but it still ain't right.

I won't be buying any exhaust kits from them anymore. I'll just bite the bullet and pay my local guy the $250 plus dollars he wanted.

Well at least I'm not the only one Thanks for letting me know, I guess I'm just going to have to bend the pipes.

You guys need to cut them some slack - they've only had 40 years to get it right.

I bet you can find a local place to make you custom exhaust for much cheaper than the kit will cost, and you won't have to mess with installing it.

It will be close, I have the kit on my shortbed and I had to get one pipe adjusted, the price depends on where you are, in AZ where I was, I couldnt come close to LMC price, Midas wanted over 600 for complete exhaust, in TN I got a full exhaust for around 300 and that was the best I could find, plus being in a small town, you would think prices should be lower, nope, in NC where we currently are most exhaust places start at 250 and up.

Re: LMC Exhaust kit fitment issues?

My LWB K1500 has the dual kit and it appears to fit quite well. The tubing is amazingly thick, I doubt it will ever rust out....the turbo muffs and hangers are another story. I can't comment on how it was to install since the PO added it to the truck. As far as fit goes, the muffs are tucked up between the frame rails and the drive shaft and all the tubing stays up nice and high until it pokes out with the side exit behind the rear wheels. I assume the turbo muffs on it are the ones that came with the kit. They sound nice, no drone, but the lack of a balance pipe(tough to have on a 4x4) makes them a little bit "blatty". I can tell a real difference in their sound from when I got the truck almost 2 years ago. I assume there is some amount of fiberglass packing in there which has degraded with time and use. The front half was hooked up with some welded in bends to make it fit with the rams horn manifolds. (casting numbers come up as Corvette, don't know if it means anything) It looks like the kit would work well with a set of headers, but I haven't bothered because I have a 4spd and it would be a pain. I was thinking about some different muffs, but I don't NEED them now.

Re: LMC Exhaust kit fitment issues?

I used the kit on my longbed 2wd v8 and it worked great! Half the price the muffler shops wanted to charge me locally.

Re: LMC Exhaust kit fitment issues?

The engine is an aftermarket motor, and the exhaust manifolds could be wrong. Here are some pics, is it the manifolds?

Re: LMC Exhaust kit fitment issues?

You need the ramshorn manifolds that turn back, instead of dumping straight down.

Re: LMC Exhaust kit fitment issues?

You can look in the parts for sale section on this forum.

I think you can buy new aftermarket at most parts stores

Thanks, I will check out the for sale section, and I saw that LMC sells them too.

Re: LMC Exhaust kit fitment issues?

My exhaust on my 69 C20 w/ 350 fit like a glove (duals). The exhaust on my current ride 67 K20 with 292 is a nightmare. The driveshaft and exhaust rub 90% of the time the truck is running and nothing I can do to twist them, turn them to make it right. Both LMC.
