vortec distributor
Is it possible to use one of the crab type distributors on a gen 1 engine. Is the length of the shaft or something different.

The inside of the dist is basically a hall effect switch. The guts inside won't do you any good. It is basicly like a crank trigger setup for a race engine. There are no advances in there

Yes it will fit. However as hugger6933 mentioned, that distributor won't do you any good without the PCM and all the sensors to make it all work.
