4wds can appear to be crabbing because the front track width is wider than the rear. Did your friend look at both sides? It's kinda hard to check the right because the following vehicle has to be way right for the driver to see.

TIP: Drive it slowly through a wet area,to a dry area, for 20-30 ft.Any "dog-tracking" will show up as uneven tracks.

Re: 1 ton k3500 rolling sideways...

If you've ever watched a dog track a scent, you might notice that the dog's rear legs are to one side.It helps fool anything following them. So,"dog-tracking"on a vehicle,is caused when the axle doesn't follow the front wheel tracks. It's usually caused by a broken spring,hanger,u-bolt,or the bolt that centers the axle housing on the spring. Another way to verify it, is to measure the distance from the front of the tire,to the wheel opening,on both sides. If they're different,it means it will "dog-track",which causes steering problems, using more fuel, and tire wear.It may cause a lean in the body, also. If your truck has a straight front axle, measure front and rear.

"Dog Tracking" is when the rear isn't following the front tires in a straight line.

it "Tracks" to one side or the other.

Measure from the cab to the center tread of the outside tires, then. From the picture,I'm betting the right side is farther back, indicating a problem.

i also suspeted the rear springs the right ones are missing the bolt in the u bracket that holds them together its must have hit a big hole. they might be cracked and they are rusted. i plan on installing comercial ones like on the wrecker and get rid of thoses air bags.

Well, that would do it!It's probably sliding around,as you drive,so it would really be a challenge to keep it straight. Good luck with it,my friend.
