Whitewall tire PAINT??
Don't know where to post this so I thought I put it here and it can get moved to where it should be. Took the 20's off my truck and put some 15 rallys on it gonna go with a baby moon and have been looking at some whitewall tires and came across whitewall rubberized paint.
Anyone ever painted whitewalls. If so how does it last. Any suggestions on prep and paint type. Not really worried about color fade as its on more of rat/patina truck. Just wanting some info on the look and last of the paint job. Posted via Mobile Device |

Re: Whitewall tire PAINT??
I painted tires a few times.. but not the white wall part.
I used to own a Buick Skyhawk with smaller 14" wheels I'd paint the thin white lines around the tire red. They were just the right thickness for simulating "Red Lines" I used a standard enamel paint from a jar..a hobby paint. I've also used rattle can spray paint. It lasted for years without wearing or cracking, and only started to look bad when I'd occasionally wear it off driving against a curb. And I got many comments on my "Red Line Tires" So I suppose painting the white on a white wall would work just as well. I think this also qualifies for the Mods under 50 dollars.. lol J.

Re: Whitewall tire PAINT??
So just use enamel spray paint. How about grinding them.

Re: Whitewall tire PAINT??
Tires can be painted as long as they are free of oil/grease. Lightly wipe down the area on the tire to be painted with some type of surface prep and use a good oil base paint. Taking the tire off and laying it flat on the ground or on a table also makes it easier.
