Why isn't a repo fleetside panel avail?

I can't believe someone has not made JUST the full length lower half of the 60-66 fleetside box side at least for a shortbed. From all the used boxside panels I have looked at, the lower outer panel is either rusted and/or damaged from the flimsy factory bracing. Take a hit in the rear bumper corner and the whole lower side panel is buckled beyond use. It looks like the correct way to restore any used bedside is by drilling out the spot welds and separating the boxside at the seam line. Basically from the upper/inner bedside piece to the lower outer panel. This allows the rust to be cleaned/removed on the backsides of both panels and most importantly from in between the seam line. That outer lower is just cut off rolled under the seam and tacked to the upper box piece. Looks like an excellent easy to make repair panel if just the lower half could be stamped. Only body lines is the wheel flare arch stamping and the rest is flat sheet steel with a slight curve towards the top. They now make the reproduction bed taillight end caps that attach at the rear. Maybe one of the vendors should check into making this panel. I'm sure it would help save a lot of used bed sides.

Re: Why isn't a repo fleetside panel avail?

Well that's about just a hunk of sheet metal but I was thinking more of a complete correct stamped full lower panel from where the tail lamp cap spots on all the way forward to the front edge and up to that seam line. Thanks for the reply. I've found three different A/M repair patch panels but none a full lower skin.

The bad thing is even if they were repro'd they would probably fit as well as the repop fenders fit. Very poorly.

64fleet your probably right, there isnt much aftermarket sheet metal that fits worth a dern.

Hotfun, what are you looking for, short fleet sides or long fleets sides?
