Re: 1966 chevy tires.

what is the rim width? If stock, about the tallest you can get is a 235/75 without starting to look a little funny - but 235/75 is only about 29-30" tall. if wider, non-stock rims, then you can of course expand your options for tires. Let us know and am sure folks will have some more suggestions.

My personal favorite is plain ol stock steelies with a poverty cap. Stock 5.5 wheels can accomodate the 235/75, just barely, but still safely. Also nice on the stock steelie side is to get some 15x6 71+ K10 wheels - correct six lug pattern and can accomodate disk brakes if you have/want them, etc. After that, I'm a truck rally fan, and you can fit even bigger tires than that on those. 255/70/15 is a nice fit on rallies - those are approx 30" tall also. If you still want taller, then you'll need 275 or 285 tires probably.

Re: 1966 chevy tires.

235/75R15 is 28.8" tall

31x10.50R15 is 30.5" tall
(specs may vary from one tire mfg to another)

Like mentioned the wheels you're planning on using, specifically the width, will determine what size you're able to use.

I have 31's on my '65 LWB Fleetside with zero issues and plenty of clearance... so much so that I am actually going to lower it 1" in front and 1.5" in rear.

The other option for a 31" (or close to it) street tread tire is 285/70R15 or 265/75R15.

Hey blackedoutharley, do you have any pics with the 31's on there? i just got some 15x8 rims and need to get some tires that'll fill up the wheel wells.

Re: 1966 chevy tires.

Taken prior to the teardown... 31x10.50R15 on 15"X8" wheels.

Note that the truck is parked in my driveway, that has a considerable incline, rather than on level ground.
