Not really a guess, I went through Orlando and prototype in NY. I'm a submarine officer.

While you are in IL, you ought to look Mark up and get him to take you for a ride in that beast of his.

87gmc,

Been there, done that. Good luck in boot camp! Just remember to blend in and all will be good.

I was also a submariner like ElGracho but was not nuclear trained. Many of my roomates and friend on the boats I was on were "Nukes" and I never envied their hours. However, that's definitely some good training that you'll get.

South Carolina is really nice if you like to fish! My brother was stationed there and I visited him several times when I was stationed in Norfolk.

Thumbs up welcome to the Navy shipmate

I was in the Navy myself (Retired Senior Chief Boatswains Mate) it was a great experience for me, I hope for you too, I wish you Godspeed and have a great time...Jim

Salute to you 87gmc. Thank you for your willingness to serve.

My grandfather was a career Navy man (Chief Boatswains Mate as well). A pic of his ship on December 7, 1941

And after it was repaired at Bremerton and re-launched:

Cool pictures! I spent my first two years in Pearl Harbor and the history there from the attack is amazing!
