1970 gmc c10 cheyanne custom 2wd

Hey all, new to this , so I apologize for all future screw ups.
I have a 1970 gmc in med gold metallic. My dilemma is if I should restore somewhat or not to restore. I am having trouble parting with it.On the other hand would love to restore it.I guess I am looking for some inspiration or an excuse.Lot of nice work being done on this forum.

I believe you are not wanting to part with it,right? Show us some pictures so we can better see what could or should use help and what to eave alone or if you're better off jumping in with both hands and feet. I'm curious to see if yours is a Super Custom or Custom and if it has the Sierra or Sierra Grande option. Cheyenne is a Chevy trim level, but your SPID might say it anyway. A picture of that would be nice. The code would determine what it is,no matter how they typed the description. I see it's solid color with upper trim. That medium gold poly makes a sharp truck. It can look real tired if faded, but fresh it's sharp as a tack!

Thanks, yes I will post more once I figure out how to do that.I am on the fence due to the fact that I would need a garage to do a lot of the work myself. My current home is too small. Also time is also the issue right now.I think I will keep her mechanically sound until I semi retire in 2013, then I could spend some time on this project.I prefer to be hands on rather than rely on someone else's work.besides I can't afford to have it all done at once.
Starting to look for places to rent for proper place to work.

You know, with these trucks, you can make them safe and then just drive the wheels off, or spend a ton of money, but either way you will be just as happy. Nothing like driving an old truck regardless of its condition.

Re: 1970 gmc c10 cheyanne custom 2wd

I was in the same boat. I purchased a 69 swb, that has loads of rust. I contemplated selling it for a long time because I wasn't sure which direction I wanted to go with it, I live in an apartment complex and have no garage to work on it, and the cost of restoring it is still looming. You will have some biased crowds with directions of patina and steelies, smooth and dropped, or bone stockers. The beauty of the 67-72, is that no matter which direction you choose, the vehicle wears most all styles well. Good luck with your decision. I would highly suggest browsing the build forums though. I have pretty much "stole" all ideas for my truck from the others builders designs and imaginations. You will find some extremely innovative ideas on this site. Good Luck!

Re: 1970 gmc c10 cheyanne custom 2wd

I think you know what to do. Just plug away at the mechanical things for now until you semi-retires and find a place to blow it apart. If it needs rust repair, you can do that in the driveway a piece at a time. Go to an auto paint store and get spray cans to match your paint to temporarily coat those areas. It doesn't have to be perfect. Anything you do now is a step towards the restoration.

Are trying to "Attach" by clicking "Go Advanced"? I find that browsing and uploading one picture at a time works. If I try to do all five I get that security token mumbo jumbo, also.
