Gauge mount panel

I had a few requests for the template for mounting aftermarket gauges in the stock bezel. This is for the 2 1/16" gauges. I used a found on the road side aluminum sign for the base. My stock bezel was in good condition. Make the template out of poster board. You will need an adjustable circle cutter, nice if you have a drill press, I used one of those that allows you to mount your drill in it on the workbench. The stock plate has a raised area of about a quarter of an inch, the new one will be inset so there will be a grove around the entire face. This allows the gauges to clear. Draw everything out with a compass first. A second line across the bottom of your gauges will allow you to mount your leds in a spaced pattern, or chose your own, Center line for the top row is a straight line parallel to the top, connecting the "v" in each edge. The speedo is placed on a line halfway and spaced where a line drawn parallel to the side intersects.

Set your drill on a low speed, slow allows you to cut with out it jamming, polish or sandblast or sand it or engine turn it as desired.

Re: Gauge mount panel

Pretty slick results. Sometimes it doesn't take throwing a lot of money at something to have great end results.

Most big box stores have them. You have to have a very secure drill or drill press because freehand they tend to walk (in my experience).

Big box store? Like Lowes or Home Depot? What is the name of it?

I used a drill press adapter that I had, it will walk, but if you go real slow and have everything clamped tight I think you can do it by hand, have a good solid piece of wood under it will help too, as it keeps the bit from walking. After all, the sign was free.
