Bought a C20 Today
I hang out on 73-87 board. I picked up this old truck today. 68 C20, 350 automatic, ps, pb, factory a/c. It looks even uglier in the pics than it does in person(it was getting dark). It's a pretty solid truck other than the surface rust. The a/c blows cold and the dash hasn't been cut. Plans are to clean it up .

Re: Bought a C20 Today
There is beauty lurking beneath. I also like that wide brake pedal.

Nice truck! It looks to have a lot of potential.
Do you have any close up pictures of the dealer emblem on the cowl? Keith |

That is Ramsey Chevrolet, Bixby,Okla. It's apparently been an Okla truck all it's life. I'll post some pics as I clean it up a bit.

Re: Bought a C20 Today
I like that brake pedal, anyone know where it may have came from? It kind of looks like a 50's car pedal. The original paint on my hood and fenders started coming off just like that truck, but I restored it before it went through the primer. Mine was built in St Louis and that one was probably also built there, maybe same batch of paint.....

Looks like it has a little leak up front - leaking cats! lol
Nice project! I don't call that ugly - it's "patina". :-)

Re: Bought a C20 Today
The brake pedal is for sure a strange touch. It does look like a late 50's early 60's Chrysler pedal. Someone must have liked to use their right foot. They drilled two holes through the pad and pedal and bolted it, different.
Now Big Daddy about that old cat, she is a car cat. She has to check out every vehicle that shows up, and if a window is down she will jump in. She went for a ride with a buddy of mine one day. He drove off and I hear this screech, look up and he was turning around. I guess she scared him pretty good when he realized she was in the truck with him. ![]()

Re: Bought a C20 Today
Spent some time on the old truck. Scrubbed it good, found some early style wheels and painted them. Removed a few unnecessary items including the gargantuan back bumper and frog lights. Primered the copper door. I still have some work to do on the other side but it looks a ton better.

Re: Bought a C20 Today
Wow! That is a HUGE improvement. That light green paint came out nice. I love the factory steel wheels too!
The truck is looking real good. How long did you spend rubbing out the old paint? Keith |

Re: Bought a C20 Today
I've got a few hours in bringing the paint back. First I scrubbed the whole thing with soap and water using a mild Scotchbrite pad. Then ran the buffer over it. The drivers side doesn't look near as good, but overall the improvement is night and day.
