50th Anniversary Questions
Title says it.
I know 50th's are gold and ivory, but, to make it a 50th does it need to be marked on the SPID? Also, if it's a 50th, does the ivory include the lower 2 tone? |

Re: 50th Anniversary Questions
All the 50th trucks I've seen have both top and lower ivory. My SPID has
4551AA Off White/ Gold listed. It is an Anniversary C20 longbed. |

Re: 50th Anniversary Questions
If it has the SPID the Paint Code will be listed. If the SPID is not listed then the interior colors should give it away.

Thank you 70cst.

Re: 50th Anniversary Questions
My guess is that it's because someone had control of the keyboard when the SPID's were keyed-in for printing. You gotta remember that computers were not down at the assembly-line level of work. Some computer geeks were using them to do things like payroll, print checks, etc. All of the data entered into the computer to do whatever it was supposed to do, was done by a limited number of people. The SPID's could have been one of those final items on the assembly line, and it was a matter of making it match the vehicle, based on the build sheet.

Re: 50th Anniversary Questions
Just curious... were the annies the only trucks painted these colors? I'm starting to sand and finding the factory ugly gold underneath my PO ugly maroon.
It's not going to stop me or change my plans any, I'm just curious. The glove box door has been replaced at some point, so it isn't any help.

Re: 50th Anniversary Questions
All the fleet side trucks were painted two tone roof and lower truck. All stepsides were only two tone on the roof like mine. Of course mine is the only 50th stepside that anyone knows of. I'm not bregging, but it is pretty cool to think that it is the only one out there, I'm sure one will pop up someday, but mine is original paint, v8, auto, power steering and power brakes. No rust and 69xxx miles. I just love my truck.

Re: 50th Anniversary Questions
Earl Junior, I think in 1968 they only used anniversiary gold. All other years had a different shade of gold. But in 1968, you could get anniversary option on suburbans, vans, and el caminos. And all light duty pickups.

Re: 50th Anniversary Questions
Thanks mcbassin, if click on my name, look for all threads started by me. I got it 2 years ago on ebay. Somebody on the board asked if it was a real 50th in a post because nobody, even the resident experts know they made a 50th stepside(there in the sales lit for them) but nobody ever saw one. After alot of discussion on the board, it was determined that it was the missing link. I put some bids and held my breath.
