How do I secure this bracket

I have a set of 1972 big block alternator brackets with the support rod. How do I secure the support rod to the engine? It looks like it goes to the manifold.

The engine side of that upper alternator brace/rod bolts to the head, there is a threaded boss just above the 2nd LH exhaust port. Mel

Re: How do I secure this bracket

not to sound off Key but i would use the 1967--69 396 alt bracket for that side instead of that on it looks better and it works better too here are the pictures of mine i put my 396 in my 1971 nova but it came out of a 1968 3/4 ton truck
