tilt column rebuild Qs

I am wanting to rebuild a tilt column i picked up. its from a 70 4WD but i have no idea where to start. do any of you know of a thread to help me tear it apart and rebuild it

Upper upper, and lower upper bearings are getting hard to find....check with Wes at classic heartbeats, he may have been able to find another set by now.

I will also say when i did mine the bearings were not to be found. Take care with the tear down. Gary

Service manual is a great source of info., exploded view for reassembly and special tools required, pullers, slide hammer. The two pivot pins can be pulled with a bolt, nut, washer, and a socket of the correct size...

you know thats a good idea. I didnt even think of my 70 chevy service manual.
ill check out those websites now. the bearings still feel good so hopefully I wont have to replace them. I mainly have to tear apart the upper portion where the tilt is to run the turn signal switch wiring. but Im check those bearings for sure now

If all you have to do is replace the switch, there is a way to do that without tearing much apart other then the cover
