Anybody here have a 2WD that is lifted?

I would like to see some pics and maybe alittle info please on the lift setup and the Tire size you are using?

I am going to lift my 79 and wanted to get some ideas from others here. The most lift I could find was with a 2" suspension lift and then a 3" body lift, well plus Larger tires. Reasons are I am going to be taking this truck back offroad some but not anything where a 4wd is a must but I want to make sure I don't bottom out. So there sometimes is a reason for a lift kit on a 2wd, plus a lifted truck just looks great.

Yes I know to some its stupid to lift a 2WD but everybody likes different things. I would love a 4wd but I cannot get rid of this 2wd and converting it to 4wd is out of the question. I also do not need a 4wd, I just need ground clearance.

I had originally wanted to go with a lowered Street truck but I don't need another Street vehicle, I need something I can take back to where I am going to be swimming and plus my mother lives on a horrible road where my GTP already can barely go from bottoming out. A lifted truck would come in handy alot more than a street truck or a stock height truck would.

first off, check out my site.

secondly, there arent many lift kits available for our trucks, the demand isnt that great. you can get coil spring spacers which will give you about 2-3" lift, then you can get 3" lift coils, a company use to offer a 3" lift spindle, but before i could get the cash they quit. you can modify a 88-98 chevy lift spindle to fit our year trucks.

right now i have no lift and 32" all terrains, i have a good bit of ground clearance, but more is always good. i am not a fan of body lifts, they weaken the bed and i have seen body mounts come through the body and beds bend in the middle. that and the gaps and such it leaves. that and they give you 0 ground clearance (except for the little bit you get from bigger tires), where as suspension lifts give you better suspension performance and ground clearance.

Thanks. I only found one Suspension lift kit and it was in JCwhitney. It was the spacers for the Rear and larger springs for the front.

What about the Shocks? What shocks do you use when you are lifting the truck? I found plenty but they say for 4x4 onlys.

as far as shocks, it depends on the application, but for our trucks it shouldnt matter. for some time i was running shocks from a 4x4 s-10 blazer. i had to modify them to make them fit. but they worked! depending on the lift you get you might be ok with stock shocks. unless you plan on pushing the suspension to its max, full bottom out, full droop...if you want new shocks with your lift, get a set that is a bit longer than stock.
