Alternator mounting?

I would really like to get an electric water pump for my truck, along with an electric fan. Problem is right now the alternator is bolted to the water pump in two places, as I'm assuming is normal. The electric pumps, such as this one:
http://www.jegs.com/i/Proform/778/66225BK/10002/-1
don't have mounting holes for the alternator brackets. How am I supposed to mount the alternator to the engine without using the water pump? Is there a relatively cheap "kit" for this or can I maybe use a different stock part to move the alternator?

I want to remove everything belt driven but the alternator and the PS pump, it would be nice if they could use the same v belt.

You can set my truck on fire and roll it down a hill,
and I still wouldn't trade it for a Coupe de Ville.

Re: Alternator mounting?

IMO I would not run a "Proform" electric wate pump on anything on the street.
I have too many friends who refuse to purchase another one due to leaks and motor failures. If they will not hold up on my friends Drag Cars, I can NEVER see them holding up on a street driven vehicle with constant use.

If you must buy one , Get this one . Its twice the price but 10 times the quality.

If you do go that route Good Luck.

$500...ouch. Hoping to save some money (gas) with an electric pump. Found some generic ones on ebay that go for about $100 but they probably aren't that reliable either. I guess I could get two.

Does anybody know if there is a stock electric water pump I can get at the junk yard from another vehicle that might be more reliable?

The water pump isn't a significant load on the engine. Electric pumps are expen$ive and unreliable. The reason the drag guys use them is they move more water at idle and they can be run after the engine is switched off to prevent heat soak. If one fails in a 1/4 mile run they can swap it before the next pass. If one fails on you 30 miles from the house you pay $$$ for another pump and a $300 tow... Or you end up owing favors.

Replacing the engine driven fan with a well thought out electric fan setup will give you some bang for your buck when you're traveling over 25-30mph. Even with a thermal clutch the engine driven fan robs of at-speed power.
TANSTAAFL though. Electric fans load the alternator when they are running so you still pay for them... just not at higher speeds where the normal airflow keeps the temp down.
