BBC help!!!

I'm getting ready to start cleaning up the engine bay in my truck. I've got the stock 454 in it. I have no knowledge of the bbc stuff. I would like to get a new intake, valve covers and new roller rockers, but don't know what to get. Oval or square port intake? short or tall vlave covers? What size roller rockers? I know sbc very well but when it comes to big blocks, I'm in the dark. Can you guys tell me what I've got or how I can run some numbers to find out? It's all stock 1976 crewcab 454 with T400 trans. Can you guys point me in the right direction? Any help would be appreciated.

Stock motor->
Oval port dual plane intake
Roller rockers 1.7 7/16stud
GMPP valve covers(black aluminum kind, come on the crate engines) will fit over roller rockers with thick 5/16" felpro gaskets.
Hooker competition headers #2455 will fit in frame rails for lowered applications.
Stay with a Edelbrock 750 performer carb, this will probably run rich but the headers and intake should help it breath.

For a stock BB I think roller rockers are over kill. I'm running Comp Cams Magnum roller tip rocker with a .564 lift cam and have had no problems. Only cost 149.00 from Jegs. Use the money you save on sonething else.

If you happen to have air conditioning, tall valve covers probably won't fit under the oem brackets. I believe you use tall valve covers to clear roller rocker arms, I think?

I have all kinds of BB stuff if you are interested. Set of oval port heads that are ported and polished, will need a minor valve job. I have Crane Valve Springs with about 2 hours on them good to 550 degrees of lift, double rolling timing chain, Comp Cams Roller tip rockers, Edelbrock Performer RPM Air Gap intake (Oval Port) like new, chrome valve covers..(Short style).. Chrome Pulleys and Stock Pulleys, Chrome Alternator Bracket. All of this stuff is in great shape and you will find no problems with anything. If you are looking for any of this and want to save some money, let me know. Send me a PM if you would like.
