Does anyone know if the steering wheel from a 90s truck without airbag fits a 72 GMC without any mods.

I just installed one tonight. Works great!
No modifications. Easy swap. If you have a steering wheel puller that is.
You can usually buy a used one for less than $60.

I bought one from Nevada70chevy off of the parts board. Just installed it tonight. Took about 10 minutes total. You will probably need a puller though.

There are some small mods with the horn wire...make sure to get the wire from the donor truck.

$60 for a puller? you can never have too many tools, BUT a cheaper way is to get some steel, i used a tiny chunk of 1 by 1/4 about 3 inches long and drill two holes in it and you can screw it into the wheels hub so the shaft is on it and it will push it right off. bad explanation but if you look at your wheel you will see. goood luck, Ben

Just buy a cheap harmonic balancer puller set. They work on steering wheels too. Make sure it's the type that can do two or three bolt setups. They usually cost under $20.

Cool, I'm gonna go out and look for one. The one on the truck is toast. I'm getting it ready to drive down from WA. Probally have it here in AZ by the end of Sept.

Is what I wanted to say is . . . . . .
You should be able to find a good used steering wheel for less than $60. Not a steering wheel puller.
Around $20 for a good NEW steering wheel puller.

Autozone rents the pullers for free, btw. $15 deposit refunded upon return.

My wife found one at a yard sale today out of a GMC Suburban for 10.00, one less thing on my list to find.

With this swap, what upper bearing support are you guys/gals using? I used the one that came with the new steering wheel,for the horn button. and now I have slop in it and the turn signals won't cancel. Are you supposed to use the original from our trucks?

I cut the upper bearing support from my old turn signal cam, and slid that onto the shaft first, then followed by the later model turn signal cam.
